Research Associate

Dr. Jana Lenze has been working as a research associate at the iff since 2024. She is an economist who received her PhD in development economics in 2019. Her focus lies on quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical economic research.

Previously, she spent several years in consulting for startups and innovative companies, specializing in support for loan applications and financing issues. Her focus was particularly on improving access to financing for female startups and young female entrepreneurs.

Currently, she is working on a joint research project with Prof. Dr. Kerstin Nolte from LUH, which deals with the sustainability preferences of small investors in investment advice. The aim of this study is to identify the necessary information needs and framework conditions to enable a greater consideration of sustainability aspects in the investment decisions of small investors.

Jana Lenze completed her studies in international economics and Arabic studies at the Georg-August University in Göttingen. In 2019, she received her PhD (Dr. rer. pol) there. Her dissertation deals with the determinants of educational inequality, as well as the impacts of migration and domestic violence on the employment status of women in developing countries. During her academic career, she conducted research stays at GIGA in Hamburg and the Center of Migration in Oxford and worked as a post-doc at the Chair of Development Economics in Göttingen.
