Vom 19. bis 21. Juli 2023 richt das iff die 18. Weltverbraucherrechtskonferenz der International Association of Consumer Law (IACL) in Hamburg unter dem Leitthema “Challenges and Unanswered Questions of Consumer Law” aus. Die IACL fördert Debatten rund um Verbraucherschutz und Verbraucherrecht. Ziel der IACL ist es, Forschungsnetzwerke und gemeinsamen Forschungsprojekte im Bereich des Verbraucherrechts sowie der Verbraucherpolitik und der Verbraucherbeziehungen zu fördern. 

IACL-Konferenzen werden alle zwei Jahre und in der Regel von Universitäten ausgerichtet. Die letzten Veranstaltungsorte waren USA (2019), Brasilien (2017), Niederlande (2015), Australien (2013), Vereinigtes Königreich (2011), Indien (2009), Neuseeland (2007) und Südafrika (2005).

An den Konferenzen nehmen Hochschullehrerinnen und Hochschullehrer, Richterinnen und Richter, Anwältinnen und Anwälte sowie Vertreter von Regulierungsbehörden, Banken, Unternehmensgruppen und Verbraucherorganisationen teil. Die Konferenzen stehen allen Interessierten und nicht nur den Mitgliedern aus dem Bereich der universitären wie außeruniversitären Verbraucherforschung und Lehre offen.

Die Konferenz wird vom Vorstand der IACL (Vorsitzende Professorin Michelle Kelly-Louw, Kapstadt) in Zusammenarbeit mit einem nationalen Leitungsgremium unter Führung von Dr. Sally Peters und Professor Udo Reifner geplant.

IACL Conference 2022 postponed to 2023

In view of the worldwide Covid 19 pandemic, the 18^th World Consumer Law Conference held by the International Association of Consumer Law has been postponed. We would like to welcome as many lecturers and researchers from all over the world as possible in Hamburg. However, the vaccination against Covid-19 is not yet well advanced in many countries and we would like to avoid the risk of infection. The IACL conference will, therefore, take place in Hamburg from 19^th to 21^st July 2023 under the main theme „Challenges and Unanswered Questions of Consumer Law“.

IACL conferences are held every two years and are usually organized by universities. The most recent venues were in the USA (2019), Brazil (2017), Netherlands (2015), Australia (2013), United Kingdom (2011), India (2009), New Zealand (2007) and South Africa (2005).

The International Association of Consumer Law promotes debates on consumer protection and consumer law. The conferences are attended by university professors, judges, lawyers and representatives of regulatory authorities, banks, business groups and consumer organisations. The conferences are open to all interested parties and not only to members from the field of academic and non-academic consumer research and teaching.

The aim of the IACL is to promote research networks and joint research projects in the field of consumer law, consumer policy and consumer relations. It provides support to government institutions, universities, consumer organisations and experts.

The conference is being organised by the IACL Board (chaired by Professor Michelle Kelly-Louw, Cape Town) in cooperation with a national executive committee led by Dr. Sally Peters and Professor Udo Reifner.
